As a holy city to three religions, Jerusalem is one of the world’s most frequented tourist and pilgrimage cities. Regardless of personal background, touring Jerusalem is transformative: walking the Via Dolorosa, the route Jesus took to his crucifixion; touching the aged stones of the Western Wall, a 2,000-year-old structure where ancient Jews prayed; seeing the Al-Aqsa Mosque where Islamic tradition holds the Prophet Muhammed ascended to heaven—these are moments and places that create an unparalleled experience. Do all this and more on this course: explore Jerusalem’s Old City, travel to Masada, tour the Yad Vashem museum, and see Tel Aviv. Join us for a week abroad that you won’t forget.

APPLICATIONS will open online on September 24, 2018. First round applications are due October 18. Applications received after October 18 will be reviewed as space allows.

TRAVEL FEES are approximately $1000, which includes lodging, excursions, and some meals. Students are also responsible for the spring tuition, airfare, and some meals. Scholarships from the Jewish Studies program are available.

ELIGIBILITY: JSTU-J 325 is a prerequisite for this course. Students must also have completed two semesters at IU, have a 3.0 GPA, and be able to handle walking uphill, in high temperatures, for several hours a day.
