Graduate Funding Opportunities

Grants-in-Aid of Research for Current Graduate Students for 2023-2024

Application Deadline: February 18, 2023

Current Indiana University Bloomington graduate students working on topics of relevance to Jewish Studies are invited to apply for The Robert A. and Sandra S. Borns Jewish Studies Program grants-in-aid of research. Grants are available for two categories: 1) funding for continuing MA students in the Borns Jewish Studies Program and 2) funding for research travel, accommodations while conducting research, language study, archival expenses, and other research-related expenses. Grants-in-aid will not cover per diem expenses of food. Preference will be given to Jewish Studies master's degree students and doctoral minors.

A grants-in-aid proposal must include:

  1. Amount of funds requested and for which semester(s) - [Summer 2023 and/or Fall 2023 and/or Spring 2024].
  2. Explanation of research project, language study, second year of M.A. support, or other project for which you are requesting funding (2-3 paragraphs)
  3. Indication of its role in your degree progress (1 paragraph)
  4. A detailed budget.  Continuing MA students requesting program support for a subsequent year need not include a budget unless they are also requesting research-related expenses.
  5. One letter of reference

Proposals should be submitted as an MS Word document emailed to iujsp@indiana.edu by February 18, 2023.
